Mayan Computer: Important Lessons on Computing from the Past

Could a crude computing device built by the ancient Mayans teach modern computer scientists any important lessons?  This week, Bett and Russ discuss the recent discovery by archaeologists of a form of information processing by the ancient Mayans.  Apparently the Mayan's used a surprisingly sophisticated, yet crude, computer-like device to help manage their complex calendar and keep tabs on their empire.  Listen and you will be amazed when you hear how this device functioned, and perhaps there's a lesson or two to take away.
